MUZAFFARGARH:

A man was shot at and injured by his in-laws over a marriage dispute in Muzaffargarh on Sunday. Reportedly, 33-year-old Owais, a resident of Kot Adsdu tehsil, had an affair with Qari Abdul Rehman’s daughter. Three years ago, the couple ran away from home and tied the knot against the will of their families.

When Abdul Rehman got to know about the union, he was enraged and decided to murder Owais for the disgrace he had brought to his family. However, relatives intervened and settled the matter. But the girl’s father was not happy and was adamant on taking revenge.

On the day of the incident, Abdul Rehman called his son-in-law to his house. When the victim reached the home, the accused and his son Osama opened fire on him and fled the scene.

Owais sustained seven bullet injuries and was shifted to Nishtar Hospital in critical condition. Police have registered a case against the suspects and are conducting raids to arrest them.

Earlier, a man gunned down a woman and injured her husband over a marriage dispute in Bahawalpur.

Mujahid Hussain, his wife Zakia Bibi and several others went to the shrine of Makhdoom Shah Zakarya in Mailsi tehsil. When they were returning from the trip, Mujahid’s nephew Muhammad Shahid, who was hiding in nearby fields and was armed with a pistol, intercepted them. The accused had a heated argument with Mujahid and said he would kill him for marrying Zakia Bibi.

The culprit took out the pistol and opened fire on them, killing Zakia Bibi and injuring Mujahid.
