KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Sindh Secretary Mir Ateeq Talpur narrowly escaped a targeted attack on Saturday evening.

The incident took place on Khayaban-e-Shahbaz in Phase VI, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), when a group of unidentified armed persons tried to stop Talpur's vehicle. When they failed to do so, they opened fire on the vehicle. The bullet, however, deflected off the vehicle's bumper.

Talpur's family was also present in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

According to Talpur, the gunmen did not snatch anything. A vehicle stopped in front of his vehicle and armed men with veiled faces came and stood in front of the car. There was an empty plot to their left, he said, from where they managed to escape.

Police have acquired CCTV footage of the area and are investigating the case.

A case has been registered under articles of attempted murder, firing and damaging the vehicle against four unidentified men.
