Man gunned down outside sessions’ court

On Friday night, a seven-year-old boy was allegedly tortured to death by a seminary teacher in Baghbanpura

LAHORE: Unidentified gunmen shot a litigant dead at the gate of the sessions' court on Saturday.

Police said the victim, identified as Bilal Azeem, 30, had tied the knot in a love marriage. The family of his wife had registered an abduction case against him at Mughalpura police station. On the day of the incident, he was at the sessions court to attend court proceedings. As he reached the gate, unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle ambushed him and opened fire at him. As a result, he died on the spot.

A heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene while also recording statements of eyewitnesses. Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects and started investigations.

 Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death in Nishtar Colony. Police said the suspect, identified Ayesha, had come to the office of a person named Umar. She exchanged some harsh words with Umar. However, nearby people interfered and pacified both the parties. After some time, the suspect returned with a knife and stabbed Umar repeatedly.

He received severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment. Police reached the site and arrested Ayesha.

Initial investigations suggested that the suspect had murdered the victim because he was harassing her daughter. Police said that they were looking into the case. The motive behind the murder would be ascertained after thorough investigations, said police.

On Friday night, a seven-year-old boy was allegedly tortured to death by a cleric in Baghbanpura. The family of the victim, Muhammad Junaid, staged a protest outside the Lahore Press Club. According to the family, their child was boarding at a madrassah for the last six months. They alleged that he was tortured to death by the caretaker of the religious seminary.

A police team negotiated with the protesters and they ended the protest after assurances. SP Cantonment has taken notice of the incident. He ordered Baghbanpura police to look into the case and submit a report.
