LDA forms body to take action against illegal buildings
The committee has been empowered to take necessary actions against illegal and unauthorised constructions

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has formed a committee of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and LDA officials to take action against illegal construction and private housing schemes.
According to an official communique of the authority, a meeting was convened and decided the formation of the committee. The official body would streamline the operation against illegal constructions and private housing schemes within the jurisdiction of the LDA and redress complaints pending with the ACE Lahore region.
The committee has been empowered to take necessary action against illegal and unauthorised constructions and private housing schemes as per the LDA Act and Rules. The operations would be conducted in collaboration with ACE Deputy Director (Investigation) Lahore region Shahrukh Khan Niazi.
The terms of reference (TOR) of the committee show it will finalise the operation mechanism in consultation with the deputy director (Investigation) of ACE Lahore. It will conduct verification of the status of the constructions identified by anti-corruption authorities and private housing schemes, as per records and applicable rules.
It will ensure issuance of notices, show cause notices and demolition operations after getting orders to this effect by the competent authority, only if the construction was non-compoundable. It is also empowered to regularise compoundable offenses after getting orders from the competent authority. The committee will forward progress reports to the ACE Lahore regional director for information on the demolition operation against illegal non-compoundable constructions, illegal development in private housing schemes and regularisation of compoundable offenses under the applicable rules.
The constituted committee will utilise available machinery and human resource to launch successfully complete the tasks.
