Court asks NAB to appoint prosecutor in Sharjeel's case

KARACHI: An accountability court issued on Saturday a letter to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) director-general for the appointment of a prosecutor in the Rs5.67 billion corruption reference against former information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and others.

The court remarked that the load of the cases is increasing due to the non-appointment of prosecutors.

Memon and other accused appeared before the court. However, due to the delays in appointment of a NAB prosecutor, no proceedings took place and the court adjourned the hearing till February 25. The court expressed displeasure over the absence of NAB's witness, Meer Alam Jokhio, and of the absence of the prosecutor.
