Islamabad police apprehend 227 proclaimed offenders

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have apprehended 227 proclaimed offenders as well as court absconders during the ongoing year in a special crackdown against criminals who were on the loose and involved in particularly heinous crimes, a police spokesman said.

He said that this crackdown has been launched following special directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and SSP Islamabad Waqaruddin Syed who assigned the task to all zonal SPs to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders. He said that 227 proclaimed offenders as well as court absconders have been arrested during the ongoing year.

Saddar Zone Police arrested 76 such absconders followed by City Zone Police who arrested 64, Rural Zone arrested up to 50 suspects and Industrial area police arrested 37.

The spokesman added that SSP Islamabad has directed to continue this ongoing crackdown and said that he would review the performance report of each police station in this regard.
