Loni’s postmortem report rules out foul play

Civil Hospital MS, surgeon say they did not find any torture marks on his body

QUETTA: The postmortem report of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) activist Prof Arman Loni on Thursday revealed that his death did not occur due to blunt force trauma.

It was being said that Prof Loni was killed during baton charge by the police to disperse protesters of PTM and Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party holding a peaceful protest on February 2 against the terrorist attacks on security forces in Loralai.

“We did not find any torture marks on Prof Loni’s body during the postmortem,” said Civil Hospital, Quetta Medical Superintendent Dr Saleem Abro and Police Surgeon Ayesha Faiz while addressing the media on Thursday.



“Blood samples of his [Loni’s] brain, heart and body have been sent to the Forensic Lab in Lahore” to determine the actual cause of his death, they added.

They said a brief postmortem of Loni’s body was conducted in the presence of 10 health experts, including doctors from Loralai, who were recommended by the heirs of the victim.

“During the postmortem, we examined his chest, abdomen, stomach, head and heart while in the presence of doctors, who came from Loralai, we did CT scan and X-ray,” said MS Abro and Surgeon Faiz.

“Blood samples of Loni’s heart, brain and body have been sent for forensic examination to Lahore which will determine the actual cause of his death,” they said, adding that the forensic report would take 10 to 20 days.

“We found a blood clot in his brain, while the deceased’s face had turned blue,” the doctors added.
