K-P plans survey for next budget

CM urges people to give their input

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will soon launch a survey to finalise the next provincial budget in consonance with the expectations of the people, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said in a message issued on Thursday.

“The provincial government will carry out an extensive exercise to know and ascertain people’s needs, requirements and their expectations.

The next budget would properly reflect what the people expect from the provincial government,” the chief executive of the province said appealing to the people to give their input in the survey.

According to Mahmood the next budget would protect the due share of the people through a just formula for distribution of resources and planning strategy through a well-directed road map.

The chief minister said that the provincial government has decided to make its priorities for the next budget in view of the background of the current budget and the expectations of the besides the need driven approach.

“There will neither be assumptions oriented strategy nor any illogical, ambiguous and unclear direction in the whole process of budget preparation,” the executive head of the provincial government said.

A survey before starting the budget-making exercise, Mahmood said, is a right step towards rectification of the flaws consistently committed in the past and resulted in the drain of resources.

The survey is aimed at identifying the real issue of the people, the systematic revitalisation of institutions, transparent governance and merit based decision making for the public welfare and promoting participatory approach in the whole resource distribution formula.

Mahmood assured the next budget would truly reflect the aspirations of the people.
