ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge said on Thursday that social media had made people’s lives ‘poisonous’ and the whole society had been indulged into this filth.

Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani passed the remarks while conducting the hearing of a case pertaining to the alleged harassment of a woman, belonging to Jhang.

The woman's counsel apprised the court that after having friendship with the accused, his client came to meet him to Islamabad. However, the accused left her after some days.

The counsel also prayed the court to cancel the bail of the accused.

On this, Justice Kiyani observed that the people did not even know how their lives had become ‘poisonous’ with the use of social media.

The personal lives of people are not safe from social media, he added.

The case's investigation officer informed the bench that the petitioner did not produce any witness or evidence.

On this, the court dismissed the petition seeking cancellation of bail.
