Bollywood stars Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt never spoke of their rumoured relationship. They neither confirmed nor denied ever being together - until now.

As reported The Indian Express, the two had apparently gotten into a relationship in 2012. Sidharth opened up about his breakup with Student of the Year co-star Alia for the first time during the latest episode of Koffee With Karan.

Host Karan Johar began by asking whether Sidharth was seeing his A Gentleman co-star Jacqueline Fernandez after splitting up with Alia. While the Baar Baar Dekho actor denied being in a relationship with Jacqueline, he spoke about his current rapport with Alia at length.

“I don’t think our relationship is bitter. We haven’t really met after that to be honest. And it is civil. It’s been a while. It happens. It is like any other relationship. I have known Alia for much longer. I knew her even before we were dating," he revealed.

"It's not that we met for a particular girlfriend-boyfriend thing. So it’ll remain. It is just a matter of coming back... whether it is work, whether it is socialising.”

After working together in KJo's Student of the Year, the pair also did Kapoor & Sons together before calling it quits. Alia is currently in a relationship with her Brahmastra co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

Reiterating how he prefers to keep good memories about the time spent with her, Sidharth added, “I’ve given my first ever shot with her. We were doing that Radha song and that twirl. There is so much memory and history.”

He continued, “There’s been enough time and there’s a reason why two people decide not to be together. There were lots of ups and downs. When you take yourself away from a particular situation and experience, you only think of the good after the event or relationship. So, there are all good and happy memories. I’m happy.”

On the work front, Sidharth will next be seen in Jabariya Jodi and Marjaavaan later this year.
