Benefits and perks: New housing society for MPAs

KARACHI:

A housing society has been formed for members of the Sindh Assembly who will be allotted land. The chief minister held a meeting on this at CM House on Thursday.

It will be registered as a cooperative housing society. The CM directed the officers of the revenue department to assist the committee in tracing, detecting and clearing land for allotment of plots. The committee has six members and is headed by the Sindh local government minister, Agha Siraj Durrani. They will examine, visit and propose sites for the grant of land. The members of the committee are Sindh Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar, MPA Dr Sikandar Mendhro, senior member of the Board of Revenue Ghulam Ali Pasha, a Board of Revenue member for land utilisation and the EDO (Revenue) Karachi. Besides this, MPA Anwar Ali Mahar and Nazar Muhammad Baloch of the Board of Revenue will assist.

The officers also discussed the Mai Kolachi Cooperative Housing Society formed by Benazir Bhutto during her first tenure as prime minister. The Board of Revenue had already allotted 79.2 acres for it during the tenure of former chief minister, Syed Abdullah Shah, and the society had paid for the land.
