According the details, Khasta Khan, a resident of Nowshera, was able to get into the plane after clearing several security checks including passing through the latest scanning machines.
ANF’s intelligence wing, however, timely foiled the smuggling attempt before he could fly away. The luggage of the suspect was offloaded from the plane and on frisking it, 1,360 grams of drugs was found disguised into the boxes of psyllium husk commonly known as Isapghol.
Customs foil currency smuggling bid
Early on January 26, Custom officials at Islamabad Airport had foiled another major attempt of smuggling foreign currency worth millions of rupees to Dubai.
Customs recovered at least 36,000 UAE dirhams from a Dubai bound passenger after he had been cleared from the luggage checking and scanning and boarded the plane.
There also seems to be an alleged involvement of airport staff in currency smuggling, sources said. A quarrel also ensued between customs and airport officials during the process of arresting the alleged currency smuggler, sources claimed.
