Kachhi Canal project vital for economy: minister

Drip irrigation and tunnel farming system to be introduced in areas facing a water crisis

QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Zmarak Khan Achakzai has said the Kachhi Canal project will have a major role in boosting the country’s economy.

“By the Kacchi Canal we would be able to solve the province’s aquatic issues and promote agriculture,” he said while inaugurating the first groves of lemon and guava of Kacchi Canal project in Dera Bugti on Friday.

Achakzai said that drip irrigation and tunnel farming system would be introduced in areas facing a water crisis.

Agriculture Secretary Khaliq Nazar Kayani, Sector Commander Brigadier Zulfiqar Bajwa, Water Management Director General Ali Raza Jamali and Dera Bugti Deputy Commissioner Yasir Bazai were present on the occasion.
