RAWALPINDI: Two police officials have been booked for the attempted rape of teenage tea vendor inside the Rawalpindi judicial lockup.

The 17-year-old chai-wala, A*, submitted an application with Additional District and Sessions Judge Tariq Khursheed Khawaja, stating that he had visited the Bakshi Khana to collect tea cups on February 1 when two police officials – identified as Qazi Haider and Raheem – locked him up and tried to undress him.

The teenager somehow managed to escape but the policemen threatened him with dire consequences if he spoke about the entire episode.

Two Adiala Jail officials suspended over sexual harassment charges

Acting on the teenager’s complaint, the judge ordered registration of an attempted rape case against the policemen.

In August last year, an assistant superintendent of Adiala Jail, Moazzam Ali, and a warder, Bilal, were suspended over sexual harassment of a fellow officer.

After receiving the complaint, the Adiala prison chief suspended the two officers for three months.
