OKARA: A man and his uncle were set ablaze over a minor dispute in Okara, police told Express News on Friday.

A Saddar police station official said that Shoaib Masih, a resident of Chak No 4/6, had an argument over a trivial matter with Daud Masih. He added that both men exchanged harsh language. In the meantime, Shoaib’s father Barkat Masih reached the spot and took his son home.

He mentioned that a few hours later, Daud and his accomplice barged into Shoaib’s house and doused him with petrol. They also doused his uncle Amjad who was sitting next to him at the time of the incident.

The official said that the accused set both men on fire and fled the scene. As a result, they suffered critical burn injuries and were shifted to a local hospital for treatment, he highlighted.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case no 77/19 under section 324 against the culprits and conducted raids to arrest them.

On January 31, a man allegedly set himself on fire over a marriage dispute in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Police said that Kashif Abbas, a resident of Naurangabad, was depressed after one of his relatives refused to give their daughter’s hand in marriage. In sheer frustration, the man doused his body in petrol and set himself ablaze. The victim suffered 60% burn injuries.
