Managing shortfall: Sukker IBA to sell solar energy to SEPCO

Around 960 KW of 'clean and renewable energy' to be supplied

SUKKUR:
Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA) signed an agreement with Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) relating to the supply of surplus electricity produced by its on-grid solar system to the power utility.

Around 960 KW of “clean and renewable energy” will be supplied. The surplus electricity supplied to SEPCO will be adjusted with the electricity bill of the institute.

“We are the first university in Pakistan producing 960 KW of clean and renewable solar energy”, said the Sukkur IBA Vice-Chancellor Prof Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui.

SEPCO chief suspended on charges of corruption

The Sukkur IBA Registrar Zahid Hussain Khand said, “Through our solar panels, which have a capacity to produce 960 KW, we are producing around 150,000 units per months and thus saving more than Rs2 million per month towards electricity bill”.

He added that the system was capable of producing clean and renewable energy for around 25 years. SEPCO CEO Saeed Ahmed Dawach said, “I wish other institutes follow in the footsteps of Sukkur IBA and produce clean and renewable energy, which is the only solution to a clean and green Pakistan”.
