Sports ground in each tehsil planned in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Balochistan Sports Board will establish at least one sports ground in each tehsil to promote healthy activities and encouraging the youth to take part in sports, the board said on Tuesday.

Official said that the provincial government had allocated special funds for establishing these grounds. “The government wants to engage the youth in sports activities to create healthy and good environment in the province, an official said.

“We are also working on launching maximum number of jobs in the field of sports,” he added. The board said that the construction of sports ground in many districts was under way, while efforts were afoot for sports-related activities at the Sibi festival in February this year.

“The youth of Balochistan have immense talent. They are the best football players who can compete at the national and the international levels,” the official said, adding that the government would create more opportunities for the young sportsmen to shine and represent the country.

Balochistan boasts of several world-class sportsmen despite the shortage coaching and other facilities. Playgrounds in the province wear a deserted look because of non-maintenance. Experts suggest that there should be grounds for females so that they could also take part in sports.
