ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfi Bukhari on Wednesday suggested an amendment to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to ensure legal and risk-free migration of Pakistani manpower to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The MoU is likely to be signed next month.

He proposed the changes dealing with how remittances are sent  as well as resolving labour disputes.

Bukhari handed over the amended draft to UAE Minister of Human Resources & Emiratisation Nasser Juma Al Hameli in a meeting.

"The amendments were aimed at easing the remittances' sending process for the Pakistani labour and evolving a mechanism for early resolution of their disputes with employers by providing them legal assistance," the UAE minister was quoted as saying.

Bukhari stressed for signing the MoU at the earliest to mitigate suffering of Pakistani diaspora working in the gulf state to feed their families back home and serve the country.

The UAE authorities assured the PM's aide that the MoU would be signed soon after going through the proposition made by the Pakistan side.
