Football: Schalke-Real friendly called off

Schalke and Real could not find a date that suited both teams’ trainings scheduleand other obligations.

BERLIN: Spanish striker Raul will not travel with Schalke to his old club Real Madrid after their friendly game planned for August was called off. Schalke had accepted the invitation for a game at the Bernabeu but said they could not find a date that suited both teams’ trainings schedule and other obligations. Raul left Real Madrid after 16 trophy-rich seasons last year and helped Schalke to reach the Champions League semi-finals and win the German Cup in his first season in the Bundesliga.
