The session is expected to see approval of the supplementary finance bill and Finance Minister Asad Umar will present a draft of the mini-budget to the prime minister during the meeting.
According to sources, the prime minister has also summoned a parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in light of the mini-budget.

The session will also discuss strategy to counter an expected protest against the mini budget by the opposition parties while the finance minister is also expected to brief the participants regarding economic reforms as well as objectives and targets of the mini budget.
All members of the National Assembly belonging to PTI have been directed to ensure their presence at the session which is also likely to hold discussion over the Sahiwal incident and participants will discuss ways to explain government’s position on the matter.
The finance minister on Jan 11 announced that his party would unveil the mini budget about two weeks later.
