Reports suggest the PML-Q has been nursing grievances against the senior ruling partner.
The power of PTI now seems to be under threat owing to the annoyance of its coalition partner which is in a position of making a decisive change in Punjab as PTI had formed its government with the help of 10 PML-Q lawmakers.
In a consultation meeting of the PML-Q at the residence of the Chaudhry brothers in Islamabad on Monday, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was handed over the mandate to decide whether to keep the coalition intact or part ways with the PTI.
The party is said to have decided to only hold talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan who will be apprised of its reservations and if the issues are not addressed then the future course of action will be planned.
Rifts between PTI, PML-Q 'persist' in Punjab
Party sources said the PML-Q leadership in the consultation meeting was of the view the issue is not only restricted to PML-Q's minister not being granted authority but the problem was of a wider nature. They said keeping the coalition party in the dark on every matter and decision is unacceptable. The leadership also expressed reservations over the way the country and its economy were being run.
It has been decided the Chaudhry brothers will talk to PM Imran on his return from Doha.
After the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat in an unofficial conversation with the media said he will apprise the premier of his party's reservations.
"PML-Q is a coalition partner and will remain so but we will also express our reservations," said Shujaat, warning inflation in the coming days will reach a higher level and everyone will be affected.
On the issue of NAB, he said its chairman is a retired judge who should not act as a bureaucrat and his decisions should be made similar to how judges make decisions.
"Justice should certainly be unbiased and across the board but all parties must be viewed differently," he said.
According to an announcement issued by the PML-Q's media house regarding the consultation meeting, it is stated PML-Q lawmakers expressed reservations over the negative attitude of the government and gave the authority to take decisions to Shujaat.
In a joint resolution, the party called for immediate steps to be taken to provide justice to the Sahiwal's victims, and to curb inflation and the crime rate.
The participants of the meeting expressed serious reservations over the Sahiwal tragedy and passed a resolution to express support with the victims and demanded perpetrators of the tragedy be given strict punishments so such incident is not repeated again.
The meeting was attended by the speaker Punjab assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, federal minister Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain Chaudhry Hussain Elahi , Miss Farah Khan, Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Chaudhry Shujaat Nawaz Ajnala, Sajid Ali Bhatt, Ehsan-ul-Haq, Muhammad Rizwan, Dr Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Abdullah Yusuf, Khadija Farooqui, and PML-Qs spokesperson Kamil Ali Agha and Mian Muneer.
