CM Kamal takes notice of mysterious skin disease

Some 15 children are found suffering from the ailment in Kachi

QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan on Monday took notice of outbreak of a mysterious skin disease in the Landi Khoso area of Kacchi district and directed the health secretary to pay a visit to the locality with health experts immediately.

In a statement, the CM expressed worry and ordered Health Secretary Abdul Majid to reach Kacchi and provide medical treatment at the earliest.

A mysterious skin disease caused by skin pimples has affected dozens of children in Landi Khoso area of Kachi previously known as Bolan.

“It was revealed during a recent medical camp in Kacchi,” said District Health Officer Dr Shahid Mehmood where he with health department and former district chairman Sardar Khan Rind had provided first aid to the ailing children.



Calling for government’s assistance, Rind said that initially a girl was found affected with the disease but she revealed that dozens of children in her town were also suffering from the same kind of ailment.

“The health team had found that more than 15 children have been suffering from fatal skin disease which turns into a tumor,” Mehmood said.

He said that the district administration has informed the health department and skin experts will visit the area immediately. Moreover, he said, the department has constituted a team to collect the skin samples for diagnosis.

Rind said: “The vermin caused by pimples infects the entire skin of children and they can’t live more than six months after being infected by the mysterious disease”.



He urged the health experts to visit the district at the earliest to save other children.

Separately, Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also took notice of the disease and ordered that a team of experts must be dispatched to tackle the situation.

It came during a meeting with members of Balochistan Assembly and local representatives who drew attention of the Senate chairman towards the disease.

The team will gather information about the ailment and formulate a strategy to check the epidemic. The chairman will personally oversee performance of the team.

During meeting in his chamber, Sanjrani sought details about the disease from Health Services Director General Dr Asad Hafeez and National Health Institute Executive Director Brig (retd) Amir Ikram.

Standing Committee for Health Chairman Senator Atiq Shaikh was present on the occasion.
