RAWALPINDI: An online system to mark the attendance suspects along with a system to record statements of witnesses has stopped working at the special, magistrate, session and civil courts of Rawalpindi.

This innovative method had been introduced by former district and sessions judge Sohail Nasir.

Under trial suspects, whose charge sheets were not presented before the courts, used to have their attendance marked online from their judicial remand cells in Adyala Jail. Moreover, the online system to record statements of witnesses has also been in mothballs for the past six months. Separately, the additional district and sessions Judge Rawalpindi has issued notices to the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) Gujjar Khan SDO and the local SHO after citizen Muhammad Yaqoob complained that he had allegedly been assaulted at the local Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) office.
