ISLAMABAD: A young woman was allegedly shot dead by her brothers for marrying out of her own free will in Islamabad’s Mehrabadi.

The 24-year-old woman lost her life while her husband sustained injuries in the firing incident. The suspects managed to flee the crime scene.

Police, after taking the body into custody, sent it for examination.

Slain Raheela Bibi and her husband Zahoor Khan, who hailed from Peshawar, had tied the knot three months back.

The couple was living in Islamabad after running away from their families.

According to police sources, the brothers of the deceased woman, Waneshar Rehman, Khan Rehman and Riaz broke into the house of the couple and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Bibi died while her husband sustained injuries.

Post mortem report revealed that the deceased was two-month pregnant.

A case has been registered against the deceased’s brothers, and a team has been constituted for their arrest.
