Robber killed in shootout with villagers

The outlaws were fleeing after robbing a shop when villagers challenged them

An alleged robber was killed in a shootout with villagers in Okara on Sunday.

A police official told Express News that three unidentified outlaws barged into a shop in Khaneki Saddar area and looted cash and valuables.

He added that when the culprits tried to escape, the villagers challenged them. As a result, the accused opened fire.

The official mentioned that the villagers retaliated and during the crossfire one of the robbers was killed while his accomplices managed to flee the scene.

Soon after the incident, a team from Hujra Shah Muqeem police station reached the spot and shifted the body to a hospital for legal formalities. Police also claimed to have seized looted cash and a pistol from the possession of the deceased outlaw.

A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.

Earlier, a wanted criminal was killed in a police encounter within the jurisdiction of Civil Lines police station, Mandi Bahauddin.

Reportedly, police received information that a wanted outlaw, Hasnain Asghar, was spotted near a canal in Petrol Pump Mangat area.

After receiving the tip, a police team, under the supervision of DSP Rana Shabbir Ahmed and SHOs from different police stations, rushed to the spot to nab the culprit. However, when officials reached the area, the accused and his accomplices opened fire on them.

Police retaliated and a shootout occurred. During the encounter, the accused Hasnain sustained bullet injuries and was killed on the spot, while his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of fire, taking advantage of darkness.

Siyal mentioned that a Kalashnikov and several bullets were seized from the possession of the culprit.
