Gunmen being chased by police opened fire

KARACHI: A man and his wife were injured on Sunday allegedly by the firing of police officials. Police claimed that the couple were injured in a cross-fire with gunmen who were chased by Police.

The incident occurred behind the Model Park in Korangi-5 on Sunday. The man has been identified as 40-year-old Adnan and his pregnant wife Saqiba (30).

They were immediately taken to Jinnah hospital where the condition of the woman is said to be critical.

Robber killed in shootout with villagers

Her brother Shafquat Zareen told that as the family heard the voice of the shooting, they rushed outside from their home and saw policemen there.

SSP Korangi Ali Raza, while talking to the media at the site of the incident, said some unidentified gunmen on motorcycles snatched a rifle from a policeman.

As the gunmen were being chased by a police party, they started shooting back and the couple were hit by bullets in the shootout.

He said the gunmen fled and left the snatched rifle behind and added that it was too early to suggest from which party the couple had received the wounds.
