SWAT: Assistant Commissioner Abid Mehmood was killed with two other police officials also injured as his vehicle plunged into a ravine on Sunday.

The incident took place in the Swat's tourist area of Bahrain.

Local police told The Express Tribune that Mehmood was leaving Kalam from Bahrain when his car fell into the ditch.

Authorities say the assistant commissioner who hailed from Mardan died on the spot, while the police officials sustained serious injuries as well.

The injured were shifted to the Bahrain hospital.

The road from Bahrain to Kalam is under construction and is in a derelict state.

In the recent past, several accidents have taken place owing to the poor quality of the road.
