In custody: Police apprehend couple over murder

Accused murdered a man and buried his body in the house

MULTAN: Police claimed to have arrested a couple which was allegedly involved in a murder case in Multan.

Muzaffarabad police station official told Express News that Akhtar and Safia Bibi liked each other and wanted to marry. He added the couple ran away from their homes and tied the knot.

He maintained after the marriage, both husband and wife took shelter in Irfan’s home, who was a friend of Akhtar.

However, he revealed that Irfan allegedly wanted to develop relations with Safia Bibi. The official revealed that the woman informed her husband about the matter and the couple decided to murder the victim.

He said on the day of the incident, Irfan was present in the house when both Safia and Akhtar allegedly murdered him. After the incident, they buried the victim’s body in the house and fled the scene.

He mentioned that based on a tip-off, the police team raided a spot and managed to apprehend the accused couple. A case had been registered against them while further investigation was under way.

In another incident, a suspect involved in a triple murder case was arrested by Bhakkar police on January 17.

Muhammad Adil, a resident of Razai Shah area, was a nephew of Azizan Mai. The suspect used to visit the victim’s house and the two had good relations.

On the day of the incident, Adil went to his aunt’s house with the intention to commit robbery. The matters took a turn for the worst when the suspect grabbed Azizan Mai and strangled her to death with a cloth. Later, he also slit the throats of his cousins, identified as seven-year-old Rafiya, and five-year-old Abid.
