Hafizabad police nab 19 ‘notorious’ criminals

DPO hands over looted valuables to their owners

HAFIZABAD: Hafizabad police claimed to have arrested 19 wanted criminals during different raids in Pindi Bhattian Tehsil, Express News has learnt.

Hafizabad City SHO Ijaz Ahmed Butt received a tip-off that outlaws, belonging to notorious criminal gangs, were present in different areas across the town. The police team immediately conducted raids and nabbed suspects identified as Shahid Hassan, Hasnain, Haseeb, Amir, Ali Haider, Shahzeb, Asad, Abdul Rehman, Babar and others.

The police teams seized arms, ammunition, cash, stolen two-wheelers, mobile phones and other valuables from the possession of the outlaws. Meanwhile, the SHO said that the culprits were involved in committing robberies, robbing people at gunpoint, stealing motorcycles and murders in different areas.

Ijaz Butt revealed that the accused were wanted by police in several criminal cases. He said that the suspects were habitual criminals. The police have registered a case against them and opened an investigation.

Meanwhile, Hafizabad DPO Sajid Kiyani handed over the looted valuables and stolen motorcycles to their owners. On the occasion, he said that the police team will be awarded certificates and cash prizes. Earlier, the police arrested two motorcycle lifters during a raid in Gujranwala.

The police said that the police team raided a hideout and nabbed two suspects identified as Nasir alias Nasri and Abdul Qadir.

He said Nasir is a resident of Kot Abdul Malik, Sheikhupura, while Abdul Qadir hails from Taunsa.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that their gang used to steal motorcycles from different parks and areas of the city.
