In Peshawar: YDA ends protest on assurances

K-P govt accepts most of demands puth forth by young doctors

PESHAWAR: The provincial government yielded to a five-hour long protest by Young Doctors Association on G-T Road, Peshawar.

The government has accepted most of demands of the young doctors.

The health department has issued a notification regarding the minutes of the dialogue. According to the notification, the government has agreed to increase the seats for FCPS at post-graduate medical institutes for the term July 2018-January 2019. A summary in this regard will be issued on January 23. Proposals of YDA on medical officer act will be reviewed along with the security act. Earlier, the young doctors began their protest from Lady Reading Hospital on 10:30 am and gathered at the admin block.

They took out a rally raising slogans and eventually came out on the GT Road and blocked it. They burnt tires and stopped the traffic causing great difficulties for the people who remained stuck in the traffic jam. YDA K-P President Dr Rizwan Kundi said: “we held peaceful protest for the fulfilment of our demands. Didn’t boycott the duty, we gave time to patients.”
