Levies to induct 20 women in Bajaur district
Directives issued by CM K-P
PESHAWAR:
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Thursday issued a notification approving the appointment of 20 female Levies personnel in the province's Bajaur District.
The directives for the appointment, made against vacant posts, have been issued by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. According to the notification, the appointed officers will participate with the Levies in search operations and other affairs.
This is the first time women are being appointed in the Levies since the merger between K-P and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
In May, in a ‘historic’ move, the National Assembly voted in favour of a constitutional amendment to merge FATA with K-P. All major political parties supported the bill, as 229 lawmakers voted in its favour and only one voted against it.
