KARACHI: The city courts, Karachi and Malir, were deserted on Tuesday, and prisoners were sent back to their jail cells without trials.

The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and Malir Bar Association (MBA) boycotted all court proceedings following the killing of Zia Alam Advocate on Monday night. “The government must do something and bring the people behind the killing of Zia Alam [to justice], otherwise they will loose the respect of the masses,” said KBA president Muhammad Aqil. The KBA managing committee’s Shamroz Khan said that they will hold a general body meeting on June 18 to decide whether to hold a sit-in or to start a movement against target killings.
