A man gunned down his fiancée for the sake of ‘honour’ in Qasba Chandna, Express News reported on Wednesday.

An official of Sahiwal police station said Tehzibul Hassan, a resident of Qasba Chandna, got engaged to Fatima, the daughter of Altaf Malah. He added that the woman allegedly had relations with another man in the area identified as Asif.

He maintained that as Fatima wanted to tie the knot with Asif, she ran away from home with just a few days before her wedding. The official mentioned that the family members and relatives of Fatima persuaded her to come back home. However, when she returned, accused Tehzibul Hassan opened fire, killing her on the spot.


The police shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for legal formalities. The police said that the accused allegedly murdered the woman to take revenge as she brought disgrace to his family.

A case had been registered against the suspect while investigations were under way.

Earlier, a woman and her friend were shot dead in Jhang’s Saddar area.

Police said that 24-year-old *F had friendship with 30-year-old I*. They used to meet at different places while their families did not know about their relationship.

On the day of the incident, the woman went to her friend’s house to meet him. In the meantime, the woman’s father and other family members came to know about the matter. In a fit of rage, the woman’s father Iqbal, uncle Yaseen and two cousins rushed to the spot and opened fire on them. As a result, both victims died on the spot.
