PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazl Rehman has said that the religious scholars are the backbone of the Muslim Ummah.

The Ulema have given numerous sacrifices in struggle against imperialism and later keeping the Islamic identity of the country intact.

He said this while visiting a renown religious scholar Sheikhul Hadith Maulana Hamd Ullah Dagai Babaji at a private hospital in Peshawar. Dagai Babaji is an eminent student of Muhammad Zakariya ibn Muhammad Yahya Siddiqi Kandhlawi Saharanpuri Muhajir Madani. Fazl spent some time with Hazrat Babaji and prayed for his early recovery.

He also paid tribute to his educational, political and social services and prayed for his health. The family of Hazrat Babaji was also present on the occasion.
