Unsafe abortion is primarily due to taboo, illegal practice
LAHORE: The problem of unsafe abortion in the country as highlighted in an opinion piece titled “Pakistan’s shocking abortion rates” published in this daily, is primarily due to the taboo and illegal practice an abortion continues to be, here in Pakistan. In this situation many are left with no other option to deal with an unplanned pregnancy but to try aborting it on their own while risking their lives.
It is about time that abortion and abortion laws were debated in parliament and a safe way out is given to the women who choose not to bring another being in this world.
