Rehabilitating drug addicts

Letter January 11, 2019
Affordability and accessibility to treatment is the dire need of the time

Drugs are the nuisance that are sapping and sucking all the energy and lifeblood of the young people. Drug addicts are often seen as escapists who do not have the courage to face the realities of life. As people who have lost their will power and are unable to abandon addiction, it’s even harder to convince a drug addict for treatment and cure even when he knows that his addiction is killing him.

The effects of drug addiction are horrible. This addiction clutches its prey forever and makes him unacceptable to society. Unfortunately, rehabilitation services for drug addicts in our country are meagre. Private clinics are unaffordable to a majority which is one major reason why patients are left to die a painful death by their own families.

Affordability and accessibility to treatment is the dire need of the time, without which we will continue to lose precious lives to drug abuse.
