'The power utility regrets the inconvenience caused to the consumers during the development work'

KARACHI: Apropos the letter published in The Express Tribune on January 7th headlined ‘Karachi’s many problems’, K-Electric would like to state that the power supply in the city is normal; and through continuous investment in the infrastructure, the utility has successfully exempted 70% of the city from load-shedding. In some areas of the city, however, power theft and kundas (illegal hook connections) are still heavily prevalent due to which these areas experience more faults which should not be misconstrued as unscheduled load-shedding. Our teams are available round the clock for rectification of these faults to minimise the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate menace of illegal hook connections.

Customers who are registered with K-E’s 8119 service are intimated via SMS prior to these planned shutdowns. This information can also be accessed on K-E’s official website. For further queries or to inquire about load-shedding in your respective area, feel free to contact K-Electric helpline at 118, or send a message on K-E’s social media accounts or send an SMS on 8119. The power utility regrets the inconvenience caused to the consumers during the development work. However, it would like to assert that all work is part of the power utility’s efforts to enhance the reliability of power supply across its network.
