Nawaz express concerns on inflation, gas crisis during family meeting

Maryam Nawaz, other members of Sharif family meet the imprisoned former premier

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore on Thursday.

Express News reported that the former premier's health has deteriorated behind bars.

During his conversation with the family members, Nawaz expressed concerns over the rising inflation and prevailing gas crisis in the country. Senior PML-N leaders were also present during the meeting.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Mushahidullah said the former premier was being punished for not compromising on his principles. He went on to add that the PTI-led government should be removed from power, otherwise the country would go bankrupt.

Nawaz Sharif is in high spirits, says Maryam following jail visit

On December 24, 2018, an accountability court sentenced Nawaz to seven-year rigorous imprisonment after it found him guilty in Al-Azizia reference, one of the three graft cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the apex court's order.

The Supreme Court on July 28, 2017 disqualified Sharif in Panama Papers case and ordered NAB to file separate cases which were respectively called Avenfiled, Al-Azizia and Flagship references.
