Traders defy ban on sale of loose spices

Trades say if matter not resolved protest will be extended to other cities of Punjab

RAWALPINDI: Defying Punjab Food Authority’s order to sell only packed spices, traders in five markets of the city continued their strike for the third consecutive day on Wednesday.

Representatives of trades, Shahid Ghafoor Piracha, Raja Jamil Akhter, Sharjeel Mir and Sheikh Saleem told the media that if the matter was not resolved through dialogue in a week, they would extend the protest to other cities of Punjab.

The representatives of traders said they too were against adulteration. However, it was not possible to meet all demands of PFA.
