Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan expresses dismay over poor cleanliness, mismanagement

PESHAWAR: Doctors should be available in shifts 24 hours in government hospitals, Provincial Minister for Health Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan said during a surprise visit to Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, late on Tuesday night.

“The hospital administration should improve its performance otherwise the ministry will have to take action,” Dr Inamullah said expressing dismay over poor condition of cleanliness and poor management at KTH.

He particularly asked the administration to ensure attendance of doctors, which remains a regular complain of patients.

During the visit, minister health inspected different wards of the hospital and he personally met with the patients and their attendances discovering about the health facilities from them, a handout issued here on Wednesday said.

Health Adviser Dr Jawad Wasif and other officials were also along with the minister.

The statement said that the minister issued directives on the spot to resolve the problems of the patients.

He also visited the waiting rooms in the hospitals where some attendants told the minister about the poor cleanliness conditions and lack of facilities, on which Dr Inamullah asked the administration for renovation of the waiting rooms, so that to ensure a conducive environment to attendants. He also ordered to present progress report in this regard within one week.
