After Bill Gates letter, German envoy wants to see 'Pakistan's silicon valley'

Martin Kobler hopes Gates Foundation can join hands with Berlin to make Pakistan free from the polio virus

ISLAMABAD: German envoy Martin Kobler on Wednesday expressed his pleasure over the announcement of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who has shown his willingness to invest in Pakistan's information technology sector. Kobler, in a tweets, said he was now looking forward to "Pakistan's Silicon Valley".

Berlin's ambassador to Pakistan, spoke out via Twitter saying "Good news coming in for Pakistan. great that Bill Gates wants to invest in IT sector. Looking forward towards Pakistan Silicon Valley."

The Silicon Valley, in the southern San Francisco Bay Area of California, in the United States, is home to many start-up and global technology companies.



In another tweet, German envoy expressed the optimism that Pakistan will eliminate menace of polio saying that "World Health Organisation and Gates Foundation together with the Pakistani people can end polio. Germany also contributes to Polio eradication."

Earlier on December 8, Gates had said that Microsoft could explore the investment opportunities in the country.

He expressed the desire in a letter delivered to Prime Minister Imran Khan by Dr Christopher Elias, President of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Development Division, in a meeting.

He was accompanying WHO’s Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WHO’s Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Region Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari.
