Police apprehend gang of six robbers

Police said accused were habitual criminals and were wanted in several criminal cases

Police claimed to have arrested six robbers during different raids in Sargodha on Tuesday.

Bhagtanwala Police Station SHO Rab Nawaz Khan told Express News that the force received a tip-off that six robbers, belonging to a notorious criminal gang, were present in different areas across the town. He added that the police team immediately conducted raids and nabbed the culprits identified as Fayyaz Ahmed, Ghulam Abbas, Kamran, Shafaqat, Ansar Abbas and Ramzan.

He said that a large quantity of arms, ammunition, drugs and other valuables were seized from the possession of the outlaws. The SHO said that the gang used to commit robberies and rob people at gunpoint in different areas.

Rab Nawaz revealed that the accused were wanted by police in several criminal cases. He said that the suspects were habitual criminals.

Meanwhile, Bhagtanwala police have registered a case against them and opened investigation.

Earlier, the Anti-Car Lifting Squad claimed to have apprehended a vehicle-lifting gang after arresting four active members. They also seized four stolen motorcycles and weapons from their possession in Faisalabad.

The Anti-Car Lifting Squad conducted raids at a hideout and succeeded in arresting four criminals. The accused were identified as Rana Nafees, a resident of Kokianwala, his accomplices Ahsan Ali Qureshi, a resident of Katchi Abadi Millat Town, Muhammad Shafiq Mughal, a resident of Chak No 213-RB Hari Singh Wala and Abdul Hafeez Khan, a resident of Babara Colony Kokianwala Faisalabad.

Police also confiscated four stolen motorcycles, two mobile phones, weapons and Rs185,000 in cash from their possession. The accused were wanted in a number of robbery cases by different police stations.
