Four FC troops injured in attack on convoy in Kech

One of the wounded, Naik Matiullah, said to be in critical condition

QUETTA: At least four Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan personnel were wounded in an ambush by unidentified gunmen on their convoy in the Balgatar area of Kech district on Tuesday.

According to security sources, unidentified terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on the convoy of security forces in Kech, injuring four FC troops and managed to escape after carrying out the attack.

“As a result of firing Naik Matiullah, Sepoy Gul Faraz, Muhammad Akhter and Imdad were injured. Naik Matiullah has been shot in his abdomen and is in critical condition,” the sources added.

A heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies rushed to the crime scene and cordoned off the entire area. The injured soldiers were flown to PNS Shifa Hospital in Karachi in a helicopter.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack till the filing of this news story. Security forces have started a search operation in the area to hunt down the attackers.

Last month, six security officials were martyred in an attack in Kech after their convoy came under heavy firing near the border with Iran.
The province has been hit by a number of attacks on security personnel but the number of large-scale incidents has decreased significantly since 2016.
