KARACHI: The opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, had sent a letter to the Sindh Chief Minister in which he has demanded the establishment of standing committees in the House and said that even the chairman of standing committees hasn't been elected, which is against the law.

No compromise on corruption in Naya Pakistan: Fawad

He demanded the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee. "We will be compelled to take a serious step if the Public Accounts Committee, along with the other standing committees of Sindh Assembly, was not established and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will not be able to conduct the assembly's sessions," he warned.

In addition to this, the joint session of the opposition parties also discussed that the Sindh government was not establishing the standing committees over the irregularities that have been revealed in the Joint Interrogation Team's report.

Naqvi said that the PPP's two faces were being revealed as the ruling party was playing with democracy. "Opposition gave names for the Business Advisory Committee in Sindh Assembly but the Business Advisory Committee hasn't been established yet. We have demanded the chairmanship of 14 standing committees in Sindh Assembly but PPP has agreed on the chairmanship of only eight to nine standing committees," he said, adding that the process of establishing standing committees in Sindh was being delayed since October.

Naqvi said that the Sindh government's name comes in the list of most corrupt governments. Hundred days have passed since the Sindh government was formed. PPP has been the ruling party in Sindh for eleven years so how was it possible that the PPP audits the accounts it manages. "How can the thieves conduct their own trial? The chairmanship of Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee should be given to the opposition."
