Good performance: Khidmat centres unburdening police stations: IGP

DIG discipline says 1.5 million people have been the beneficiaries of 8,787 complaint cells so far

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amjad Javed Saleemi has said Khidmat Marakaz and Khidmat Counters, established in 36 districts, are serving people and reducing the burden on police stations.

He was presiding over the evaluation of Khidmat Marakiz across Punjab at the Central Police Office in Lahore. DIG Discipline and Inspection Ahsan Younas and his team briefed the IGP during the meeting.

Younas informed the IGP that 1.5 million people have been the beneficiaries of 8,787 complaint cells so far. In 2018, relief was provided to 481,660 people from these 36 Khidmat Marakiz and they included 254,615 character certificates, 148,433 employee verifications, 29,349 vehicle verifications, 22,788 entries of tenants, 15,409 lost reports, 4,926 copies of FIR, 3,976 medico-legal certificates, 1,876 across district character certificates and 165 crime reports. At the same time, 34 violations against women have been registered at these Khidmat Marakiz.

He said that 1,021,797 licences have been issued from Khidmat Marakiz which included 680,623 learners, 221,441 renewal of learner, 89,564 renewal of the regular license, 28,119 regular license, 1,176 international license whereas, 874 license have been issued from other districts through an integrated system.

During the meeting, the PPO directed Younas to share all information regarding the complaints and their redressal received through the 8787 helpline on a daily basis. Younas further told the IGP that from January 1, 2019 to January 3, 44 complaints of non-registration of FIRs have been received and 44 FIRs have been launched after quick action.
