PESHAWAR: A Special Parliamentary Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has completed its investigation of October 4, 2018 incident at the University of Peshawar in which more than dozen students were injured in a clash with police on campus.
The probe panel has submitted its findings to Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, which will be made public at a later date.
A meeting of the Special Parliamentary Committee was held on Friday under the chairmanship of K-P Law Minister Sultan Muhammad Khan. MPAs including Nazir Abbasi, Atiqur Rehman, Nighat Aurakzai, Sardar Hussain Babak and Special Secretary Education Ali Qadar Khan were present in the meeting.
The meeting approved the findings of the committee and the final report of the October 14 incident, which was filed to the CM.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Minister for Law Sultan Muhammad Khan said that they have held a number of meetings with the students and administration of the University of Peshawar as well as with the members of the provincial assembly to investigate the incident. He further said that the Special Parliamentary Committee has finalised a report and it will be presented to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Tuesday to take action against all those who were involved in the incident of October 4, 2018.
He informed that the special committee has worked without any pressure, adding that the provincial government’s first priority is education and any activity which are against the future of the students and education Institution that will not be tolerated.
