K-P NAB claims 100% disposal rate in 2018

All 5,735 complaints received were dealt with

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkwa National Accountability Bureau disposed of all 5,735 complaints it received in 2018.

The accountability body says investigations were conducted into embezzlement of development funds, fraudulent businesses, Islamic financing, fake housing societies, and fake investment opportunities.

Four NAB K-P prosecutors resign

According to a press release, the K-P bureau recovered Rs370.1 million through direct recoveries—60 per cent higher than 2017.

The bureau authorised 46 investigations, completed 41 probes, arrested 37 accused persons in corruption cases, filed a total of 34 references in accountability courts, and 16 cases in accountability courts ended in conviction.

References were successfully filed against former federal minister Arbab Alamgir and former MNA Asma Alamgir on allegations of holding assets beyond known sources of income worth hundreds of millions of rupees in Pakistan, former advisor K-P CM on allegations of cheating the public at large, former chairman of Pakistan Tobacco Board Sahibzada Khalid for misuse of authority, and against former labor minister Sher Azam Khan in a land scam surrounding a building in Shahi Bala Peshawar.

NAB has carried out awareness campaigns across the province and newly merged tribal districts to sensitize masses against the menace of corruption.
