Fishermen in trouble

Letter January 02, 2019
The provincial government is requested to find concrete solutions for the fishermen

KECH, MAKRAN: Gwadar is considered the hub of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), but a majority of its citizens are facing issues that need to be resolved. For instance, fishermen in the city are protesting on roads because they have been deprived of their livelihood.

Unfortunately, owing to the construction of the Eastbay Expressway, the Arabian Sea route has been blocked due to which fishermen are losing out on the fish they would catch from there. While it is understandable that the construction is important, it is also important that these poor fishermen are provided with an alternative until the expressway is completed. The provincial government is requested to find concrete solutions for the fishermen and provide beneficial amenities to them on humanitarian basis.
