Crossfire: Police shoot robber, 10-yr-old dies

KARACHI: An alleged bandit and a 10-year-old boy were killed and a rickshaw driver was wounded in what the police describe as cross-fire following a firefight between them and bandits on Sunday. The incident triggered violence in Korangi as the family and residents staged a protest. Korangi SP Usman Ghani said that two robbers on a motorcycle were looting passersby in Awami Colony precincts. The Landhi police tried to intercept them and a firefight broke out during the chase. The boy, Qadir Buksh, had four sisters and had come from Rahim Yar Khan for an uncle’s wedding. He was hit while standing outside the house. The alleged bandit killed was identified as Zahid Yousaf and his accomplice escaped. The police seized a TT pistol and motorcycle from him. A mob tried to attack a petrol pump near Bilal Colony but its security guards fired shots in the air.
