PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has so far spent Rs34.67 billion of the Rs187 billion earmarked under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) during the first two quarters of financial year 2018-19.
As such the provincial authorities have been able to utilise about 18.5 per cent of the total developmental lay out half way through the fiscal.
During July to December the biggest utilisation of funds was seen in the construction of roads where the provincial government spent Rs5.57 billion.
Other major development expenses included Rs10.56 billion under the district ADP, Rs3.5 billion on education department and Rs2.58 billion on health sector. According to figures released by the K-P finance ministry, Rs180 billion were earmarked for ADP, which after six months has been increased to Rs187.44 billion.
Out of the Rs187 billion rupees the provincial authorities have released Rs65.83 billion of which Rs34.67 have been spent as development expenses.
According to department wise spending of ADP funds, agriculture department spent Rs68 million, Religious and Minority Affairs Rs6.25 million, Revenue Department Rs6.66 million, buildings Rs18.26 million, district ADP Rs10.56 billion, sewerage and water provision schemes Rs1.65 billion, primary and secondary education schemes Rs2.32 billion, higher education Rs1.18 billion, energy and power development schemes Rs15 million, environment Rs33 million, treasury Rs3.52 million, food department Rs11.58 million, forestry Rs95.43 million, health Rs2.58 billion, home department Rs34 million, housing Rs10.68 million, industry Rs25.31 million, information Rs17 million, special programmes Rs30.19 million, development schemes for labour only Rs47,000, law and justice Rs34.28 million, municipalities Rs95.39 million, minerals Rs4.81 million, sector development Rs51 million, relief, reinstatement Rs12.94 million, roads Rs5.57 billion rupees, social welfare Rs5.47 million, sports and culture Rs42.25 million, science and technology and information technology Rs1.52 million, transport Rs1.79 billion, urban development Rs1 billion while for development projects of water supply Rs2.30 billion were spent during the period under review.
